Frequently asked questions

What does "zero egress" actually mean?+

You are never charged to download or stream data out of PodStack object storage — not for inference traffic, not for moving weights between services, not for backups. Storage is the only line item. AWS S3, GCS, and Azure all charge per-GB egress that often exceeds the storage line on read-heavy workloads.

How does the Committed tier work?+

You commit to a monthly minimum (in TB) and get the graduated tier rates. At month-end you are billed for max(actual usage, your commitment). Useful when you know your floor — e.g. you keep at least 10 TB hot at all times. If usage spikes above the commitment, you pay the tier rate on the extra; if it stays below, you pay the commitment.

Is the data sovereign and DPDP-compliant?+

Yes. All PodStack object storage runs inside Indian data centres (Bengaluru region). ISO 27001 certified, DPDP-compliant, government-empanelment ready. Data never crosses borders.

Is PodStack object storage S3-compatible?+

Yes. Standard S3 API — point your existing AWS SDK / aws-cli / rclone / Boto3 at https://s3.podstack.ai with PodStack access keys and everything works. No SDK rewrite needed.

Can I switch between Starter and Committed?+

Yes. You can upgrade from Starter to Committed any time in the portal. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing cycle so we honour the current commitment month.

Do I pay for committed capacity if I use less?+

Yes — you are billed for max(usage, commitment) each month. This is the deal that buys you the lower per-TB rate. If your floor moves, lower your commitment for the next cycle.
